PRE-DESIGN MEASUREMENT - VENUE ANALYSIS

Measurement of RT60 of the Space – Using an omni-Directional Source and Time Limited Pink Noise and measurement instruments.

Reflection Analysis using Software based Tools like EASERA SYSTUNE -

3D SIMULATION & DESIGN

In most of the scenarios we need to design a system for a space or a venue which is not actually built or have a pre-installed sound system. For this we design 3D models of the venue with exact shape, size, Volume and most importantly the going-to-be acoustics of the hall as shown below

The figures above show 3D Models of various types of Venue like Airports, Auditorium , Stadiums etc..

RT60 CALCULATION

Once the Wire frame is created , we then assign the acoustic material to the walls with the absorption coefficient close to the actual material to be used to calculate the Reverberation Time(RT60) of the hall as shown below –

SPEAKER SELECTION

Based on the RT60 of the hall we then select the relevant speakers for the venue as per its wattage and dispersion angle and the application it is to be used for. This can be checked in the EASE Simulation software for almost all Speaker manufacturers in the world.

The figure above shows rendered 3D Balloon of the speaker’s audio dispersion angle.

SPEAKER PLACEMENTS

Once we select the speakers we then place them in the 3D Model at a particular height and angle and check the response and rework on the position/height etc. if needed –

The figure above shows the Speaker placements along with their tilting angles . This varies with every venue and speaker type.

CHECKING MEASUREMENT RESULTS

Once we place the speakers we check the response of the same on the audience areas ( 1.2 mtrs for Sitting Audience and 1.5 Mtrs for Standing Audience from floor level). We calculate parameters like Direct SPL, Total SPL, Speech Intelligibility, Articulation Loss , D/R Ratio, Loudspeaker Overlap etc..

Once we calculate these results , we may have to change the speaker positions or even speaker type based on the measurement parameters. Measurement & System Tuning Once the system is installed as per the design created above , we test them system in terms of Phase , time alignment , frequency response through RTA Analysis , Impulse response, transfer function etc..

Some of the Tools we use for the same are as follows
